"YOUR Vinita Rotary Club (continued) " In addition to the many worthwhile projects and events that Rotarians help sponsor in Vinita, they are also globally-minded. Vinita Rotarians give annually to projects which are helping to eradicate polio. They donate funds and collect and deliver medical supplies to the Tulsa Medical Supplies Network, which provides medicine and equipment to people in third world countries. Vinita Rotarians support the military by sending care packages and writing letters of encouragement to those deployed to foreign countries. They gather up boxes of new shoes which are distributed to children in need around the world who may never have had one good pair. Rotarians share ideas with each other during their weekly meetings, networking as businessmen and women, and learn about opportunities to improve their community and world by listening to informative programs each week. They believe in the 4-Way Test, which is a series of four questions which all Rotarians consider before making decisions, whether personal or business-related. They ask, "Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build good will and better friendships? And will it be beneficial to all concerned?" Vinita's
Rotarians are a mix of over 50 members, young and old, male
and female, with a variety of backgrounds, talents, and
expertise, who come together for a common cause, and that is
to serve others and help make the world a better place one
project at a time. By Angela Martin, Reporter |
