Rotarian of the Day Jandra
Mayer-Ward
Jandra Ward was born and (almost entirely) raised in
Vinita. She is a 1991 graduate of Vinita High School
and attended OSU for 3 years before moving on to the OU
Health Sciences Center for degrees in both Nursing (1996)
and Dentistry (2000). She married Grady Ward, an
Oklahoma City native, in 1998 and moved with him to Vinita
in 2000. Grady is an Accounting Supervisor for
Williams Co. in Tulsa. They have 3 boys:
Parker (10 on Dec. 3), Payton (8) and Price (7 on Dec.
12). Her boys are very much the center of her
universe. Jandra served as the youngest ever Oklahoma Dental
Association President from 2008-2009. She is currently
serving as Chair of the ODA's PAC as well as keeping up with
the various duties of Past-President. She was inducted
in 2008 into the American College of Dentists, an ethics and
professionalism society to which less than 3% of dentists
are ever named. She was Oklahomas Young
Dentist of the Year in 2005. Jandra is a Cub
Scout Den Mom, President of the VPS Educational
Foundation, board member for the GATE program, the
Owner & Moderator of the Vinita Freecycle group, a
frequent school volunteer including chairing the Boxtops for
Education program for both Hall Halsell and Will Rogers, and
a 2-time past Rotary President. She has been
employed by Mayer-Ward Dental Care since 2000.
If there is any time left after those things, she enjoys
taking art classes at Waterworks Studio in Tulsa and
exploring various art forms on her own. If only there
were more hours in the day . . .

Peace...
--from "This Is Rotary"
Rotary builds understanding through international scholarships, exchange programs, and humanitarian grants. In 2002,
Rotary launched the Rotary Centers for International Studies in peace and conflict resolution, an innovative program
designed to educate tomorrow's peacemakers.
Hosted at seven leading universities around the globe, the program funds 70 World Peace Scholars each year for
graduate studies in international relations, conflict studies, and negotiation—providing promising leaders the
tools to further the cause of peace.
Some 35,000 students from 110 countries have also studied abroad since 1947 as Rotary Ambassadorial Scholars.
Rotary's Group Study Exchange has helped more than 45,000 young professionals explore their career fields in other
countries. And, each year some 8,000 secondary-school students experience life in another country through Rotary's
Youth Exchange Program.
