Spotlight On
Service...Rotary Radio
Night
Many years ago, the late
Rotarian Don Yarger came up with the idea for Rotary Radio
Night, a fundraising activity to raise money for Senior
Scholarships. KITO Radio has generously donated the air time
each year since then, and our own Rotarians serve as
honorary "DJ's" for the four-hour event, working in teams of
2 or more for 30-minute stints. Each year we look forward to
the iconic wisdom of Rotarians like Jess
Clanton and OB Johnston . . .s well as
the unique humor of those like Dee Robison and
Don Daniels.
Prior to Rotary Radio
Night, Rotarians sell "ads" to local businesses. At one ad
for $35 and two or more ads for $25 each, these are a
cost-effective way for businesses to help support our senior
scholarship endeavors.
Dee
Robison has again graciously volunteered to Chair
Rotary Radio Night this year. He has arranged with Fellow
Rotarian Bill Hodge to have a LIVE broadcast
from the Hodge Dodge Dealership.
Your help is needed NOW!!
Rotary Radio Night is only as successful as the number of
advertisements we can sell. Dee has packets available. Won't
you volunteer to contact a few businesses?
For the 2008-09 school
year, we awarded a $1,000 renewable
scholarship (for up to 4 years of college) as well as a $500
one-time scholarship to well-deserving Senior Rotarians. We
plan to again offer a $1,000 renewable
scholarship for the 2009-10 school year as well. Please help
make this possible!
